Flatness and Parallelism
Sufficiently high flatness and parallelism are necessary conditions to ensure that the shear gap between the upper and lower slitting blades of the slitter is always consistent during dynamic operation. Proper clearance is at the heart of ensuring precise cuts. If the surface of the round blade is not flat, or if the sides of the blade are not parallel, the gap between the upper and lower blades is always changing. In addition, the reaction forces generated by the extrusion of the strip during slitting also lead to continuous changes in the gap. This would make it impossible to obtain burr-free strips.
Thickness Tolerance
The thickness tolerance of the blade is mainly to ensure the cutting accuracy of the metal strip width and prevent the accumulation of errors in the tool assembly. If it is not possible to provide a blade with a thickness tolerance of 1~2μm or even 0.5μm, the cumulative error when assembling multiple shears is inevitable.
Surface roughness
The good surface roughness of the blade surface can improve the rigidity of the whole shearing system, increase the sharpness of the blade, reduce micro-cracks on the blade, and prolong the life of the blade. Different machining techniques may result in different surface finishes. For high-precision non-ferrous metal processing, generally need to choose 0.05-0.1μm. For cutting other thin coils, you can choose a surface roughness of 0.1-0.2μm.
